In the year 2003, the financial landscape of the United Arab Emirates underwent a pivotal transformation. This transformative phase witnessed the rise of the Dubai International Financial Centre (DIFC), orchestrated under the leadership of Naser Al Nabulsi as its Chief Executive Officer. Subsequently, the local equity markets surged, thus cementing the UAE's emergence as a preeminent financial hub. This significant development was the catalyst for Naser Al Nabulsi to initiate the founding of Al Mal Capital PSC (“Al Mal”).
Established in 2005, Al Mal Capital was established with an unwavering commitment to an entrepreneurial spirit, strategically poised to address the dynamic needs of an expanding investor community. The year 2015 marked an important milestone as Dubai Investments became the majority shareholder in Al Mal Capital, propelling the organization into a new phase of growth and innovation. In the subsequent year, we unveiled our pioneering Direct Investments platform, a strategic initiative that was further bolstered in 2017 through the acquisition of an educational asset within the Sale & Leaseback framework.
The year 2020 witnessed the establishment of Al Mal Capital REIT, a testament to our unwavering commitment to innovation and diversification. In 2021, Al Mal Capital REIT achieved a historic distinction by becoming the inaugural Real Estate Investment Trust (REIT) to be listed on the Dubai Financial Market (DFM). Notably, we have played a pivotal role in one of the most significant transactions within the district cooling industry in the MENA region, demonstrating adeptness across negotiations, structuring, execution, and successful conclusion. Additionally, we have also participated in local and regional IPOs, including international late-stage pre-IPO transactions.
